Purpose of the Lioness Talent Centre (LTC)
To provide female footballers in Dorset with an opportunity to access additional coaching and support, to help support their development as a person, but also as a footballer. We aim to use the LTC as a platform to help players reach the highest levels they can as a footballer, whilst gaining skills and experiences to help them in everyday life.
Lioness Talent Centre – Key Objectives
Player Development
Our Lioness Talent Centre focuses on recruiting and developing young players, with the ultimate aims to:
• Progress through the England Talent Pathway
• Progress into a Pro Game Academy (PGA)
• Progress into Open Aged Football, at Tier 5 and above
We prioritise individual player development above everything. Our LTC adopts the Future Lioness Characteristics and the LTC Technical Framework is utilised in the structure of our session plans.
Each age group ensures the Technical Framework is covered throughout each season, whilst having flexibility to off the framework to suit the needs of our players. This is the same for the Goalkeeping and Physical Frameworks.
Each player will be given two Individual Player Development Reviews each season, which they will have an input to.
Person Development
Alongside Player Development, our Lioness Talent Centre aims to support the development of young people. We aim to deliver workshops to upskill knowledge and understanding, that we hope will improve their preparation and recovery to enhance their football, but also help them with their journey through life.
We’ll aim to provide these workshops over a period of three seasons:
• Nutrition Workshop
• Psychology / Mental Health & Wellbeing
• Being Female in Sport
Physical Performance Players will also be given opportunities to:
• Lead Group Warmups/Activities
• Be a Player Representative
• Signposted to Refereeing and Coaching Courses
• Take ownership to reflect on sessions weekly
